One Day at a Time

Day 85 - 25 March 2012<br />
Sunset was even more unbelievable. The cranes roost in the Platte River at night and leave around sunrise to go to the fields where they eat the corn that was left after harvesting. These birds stay in this area for about 4 weeks before heading north and gain about 30% of their body fat to make the trip north. These cranes are about 36 inches tall and weigh 7 pounds. I have NEVER seen so many birds in the sky at one time. It was well worth the trip.
